Body & Soul: Parks & the Health of Great Cities, International Urban Parks Conference

Plans for Body & Soul: Parks and the Health of Great Cities are shaping up!  The next international urban parks conference will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, September 21-23, 2008.  An innovative agenda for the conference focusing on how parks contribute to healthy communities and healthy citizens is in the works.  To date, three exciting keynote speakers have been confirmed: Luis Garden Acosta, Founder & CEO of El Puente; Teresa Heinz, Chair, Heinz Family Philanthropies; and Richard Louv, author, "Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder." 

Conference Associaite Organizations include PA/DE Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Cultural Landscape Foundation, the International Downtown Association, the National Parks Conservation Association, the National Recreation and park Association, the Pnnsylvania Recreation and Park Society, the Trust for Public Land/Center ofr Park Excellence, the Urban Ecology Institute and the International Urban Parks Alliance.
