In response to NAOP's Request for Qualifications for GIS Mapping of Olmsted Brothers Designed Park Systems: "Olmsted Online," NAOP received 10 eligible proposals from the following companies:
Applied Geographics, Inc., Boston, MA
Artifacts Consulting, Tacoma, WA
Azavea, Philadelphia, PA
Blue Raster, Arlington, VA
ICF, Sacramento, CA
Integral GIS, Seattle, WA
MIG, Portland, OR
NAVTEQ, Chicago, IL
PugetWorks, Seattle, WA
Wharton Geospatial Initiative, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
The RFQ was advertised in the Seattle Times June 7–21. NAOP was seeking a consultant to develop an integrated set of online resources bringing together interactive maps, original drawings, navigational tools, data and NAOP materials through a Geographic Information System (GIS) database and a publicly accessible website. The pilot project encompasses Olmsted Brothers designed parks, parkways and boulevards in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. The project will create a web portal that will eventually include geocoded, visual and textual information about Olmsted-designed landscapes throughout North America.
NAOP's Selection Committee conducted the selection process with the guidance of Washington State Department of Transportation. Our Selection Committee reviewed and scored the proposals and determined that the following firms would be invited to an interview in Seattle, Washington on August 11: Applied Geographics, Inc., Blue Raster and MIG. Following the interviews, Applied Geographics was selected as consultant for the Olmsted Online project.
As the project develops, news and updates will be posted to the NAOP website.
